Ilkley Jubilee Historic Rally

The Ilkley Jubilee Historic Rally first ran in 1991. Originally called the Jubilee Classic (a name later changed to avoid confusion with the Club's Classic Trial), it was conceived by the same team that had successfully run the 'Olicana' Road Rally in the 1980's.

There was no event in 1992, but a new organising team ran the event in 1993, with Henry Carr taking over as Clerk of Course from 1994 and this small but dedicated team remain as organisers of the event that keeps to its successfull format of driving tests linked by regularity sections in and around the scenic Yorkshire Dales.

It is a 150 mile event on public roads in and around the scenic Yorkshire Dales for Historic cars but with most of the route now avoiding the roads contained within the National Park itself.

Competitors are issued with basic navigational instructions which enable them to plot the correct route on Ordnance Survey maps, they then drive that route, maintaining preset average speeds between 20 - 30 mph. Manned time controls are located along the route, penalties are collected for arriving too early or too late at these controls, or missing them completely.

These regularity sections are interspersed with special tests, where the driver's skill and car control are tested.

The event is a very sociable one, crews travel from all over the country to compete so we have scrutineering and a social get together on the Saturday evening for those crews who travel up the day before the event.

The 2017 event starts and finishes from the Millstones situated on the A59 west of Harrogate. More details will be published when finalised.

The rally is a round of the HRCR Clubmans Championship, ANWCC Historic Championship and the NESCRO  Challenge
